Much like water currents in a river-bend that flow at different speeds at different places, time too will bend and slow in certain circumstances. After all, it’s well established that time moves relative to different positions in space, and this afternoon as I drove down St. Charles Avenue I could suddenly feel the world around me slow to a trickle. I could feel the unique time-waves of each block. The colonnaded mansions swelled in the distorted afternoon light. The thick air seemed to slow the very movement of time. Only the oak trees moved with the true knowledge that time was only an illusion. It was this afternoon that I realized St. Charles Avenue is truly one of America’s most beautiful streets.
