I read this and thought this was an interesting quote. It made me think about the reasons writers write. At least in the realm of literature there really are only a few reasons to write. First and foremost, I would imagine that writers feel compelled to tell a story. And since our minds are predisposed to the narrative form, what better way to express ideas in their fullest sense than via stories.
On the other end of the spectrum, there are those who pander to the latest fad in order to earn fame, notoriety and/or a quick pay-day. Both groups have their pros and cons, and I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t jump on the opportunity to cash in on a passing fad if one presented itself to me. So I’m really not passing judgment on the latter group. I’d probably join them if I could just find something smutty and easy to sell.
Either way, the quote was nice and it paired nicely with my morning cup of coffee. Whether it’s true or not is still up in the air.
